Record before tonight: 9 - 7
Last night: 2 -3
Less than stellar results last night. Eric Bledsoe went 26 - 14 - 7 and is looking like a superstar and leader for a young Phoenix squad. Brooklyn also played terribly, though Paul Pierce actually dunked, and Nikola Vucevic is a great young player with all star potential. He's currently averaging over 14 points and 11 rebounds per game, going 20 - 12 last night. On the other hand, Kevin Garnett went 3 - 11, Joe Johnson 1 - 5 and Deron Williams 4 - 12. That is not good. But from what I saw the Nets were spreading the floor well and finding the open man, they just couldn't get the ball in the basket. The Pistons beat the spread by half a point. I'll take it. Also we're going to try using the city names.
Minnesota @ Cleveland
Spread: Minnesota -1.5
Kevin Love and his Timberwolves are kicking ass. They will be on the second game of a back-to-back, after dominating New York. Kevin Love scored 34 and grabbed 15 boards and Kevin Martin had 30. Martin loves Rick Adelman's system so it's no surprise he's flourishing in the Timberwolves offense. Tyson Chandler got one rebound. Tyson Chandler got one freaking rebound!! That is unbelievable. I just wrote about how Chandler was having a monster opening week and it would be a showdown between him and Love. Well, we now know to never bet against Love. Kevin Love is the truth, Kevin Love will be a legitimate MVP candidate. My college room mate Dimitri and I used to argue who was better between Kevin Love and Blake Griffin, this was 2011, but now it is certainly clear. Kevin Love on the Clippers has them guaranteed in the NBA Finals.
Pick: Minnesota
Golden State @ Philadelphia
Spread: GS -6
The Timberwolves being undefeated is surprising. The Philadelphia 76ers being undefeated is the most shocking thing that could have happened this week. Rookie Michael Carter-Williams is absolutely kicking ass and Spencer Hawes is exceeding expectations as well. Though Williams is the current favorite to win Rookie of the Year, tonight he'll be going against rising superstar Stephen Baby Face Curry and his shooting partner Klay Thompson. The Warriors have the worse record, but I think Curry will be teaching Williams his first lesson of the NBA.
Pick: Warriors
Boston @ Memphis
Spread: Memphis -10
Boston stinks. Ground and Pound is going to go so bananas against Jeff Green and Brandon Bass that I actually want to watch. Memphis is 1 - 2 with Mike Conley leading the team in scoring at 20 points per game. Easy pick. And Jordan Crawford is the most ghetto NBA player.
Pick: Memphis
Houston @ Clippers
Spread: Clippers -5
This will be the best game of the night. Houston is cruising at 3 - 0, but LA isn't far behind with a 2 -1 record. Howard is averaging 15 and 17. That's 17 rebounds per game. Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan better bring their A game because Howard is a man on a mission and his buddy Harden, who is the best shooting guard in the league, is too. I love my hometown team this season and I admit I'm on the bandwagon. I'm picking them by a hair in this one.
