What Could Have Been: Brooklyn Nets

When the Nets traded for Deron Williams they lost Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Enes Kanter and a 2013 first round pick.
When they traded for Gerald Wallace they lost Damian Lilard, Mehmet Okur (and Shawne Williams.)
When they traded for Troy Murphy they lost Courtney Lee.
They lost Gerald Green to free agency.

So that's Favors, Harris, Kanter, Lilard, Okur, Lee, Green
Vs
D Williams, Wallace, and Murphy (who was later traded)

So with a 2010 team of Devin Harris, Kris Humphries, Derrick Favors, and Brook Lopez. Then add Enes Kanter, Courtney Lee, Marshon Brooks and Gerald Green. That's a young, semi-talented core to grow together. Then on top of that add Damian Lilard, Joe Johnson, Andray Blatche and Reggie Evans and you have a young, talented, deep roster that is arguably a sure playoff team. It would look like:

PG: Lilard, Harris
SG: Johnson, Lee
SF: Green, Brooks
PF: Favors, Humphries, Blatche, Evans
C: Lopez, Kanter

With an injury prone Lopez and Favors it's perfect combination of bigs that will do the dirty work in Humphries and Evans, shot block and alter shots like Kanter, and all of them are strong rebounders except Lopez. This would be a powerful front court to pair with a quick back court that also is a perfect mixture. Lilard leading the point, growing as the leader, but has plenty of point guard help with Harris. Johnson is strong guard that can back down and defend the bigger guards Lee can't, but Lee can chase around the smaller faster guards so Joe won't be too tired on the offensive side. Lilard would hopefully grow into the closer, but Johnson is perfectly capable for the time being. Green and Brooks would get their share of looks from Lilard/Harris and are freer to play the passing lanes with their massive big men behind them (not that those two play defense anyway). Not only would their skills blend but the combination of youth and experience would also benefit the team tremendously and help them grow a great chemistry. Lilard won't have too much pressure to handle while he learns the ropes with Harris as the 6th man, a ball handler when Lilard is struggling, and Johnson in a closer in late games (though he's known for not showing up in 4th quarters). Green and Brooks are competing for a starting spot, which is always good, while both still get significant minutes. And finally the bigs don't have to contribute heavy minutes and there are replacements when certain players hit the wall (I'm talking to you, Brook). They still have that 2013 first round pick and only one unfavorable contract in Johnson's.
Oh, and Avery Johnson will actually have a point guard he can work with and won't get fired.
