Top Underrated Player: Eric Bledsoe
One of the best kept secrets in the NBA is that Eric Bledsoe is going to be a perennial all-star someday, if not a superstar. Learning from the best point guard in the league in Chris Paul, in addition to 2004 Finals MVP Chauncey Billups, helps but Bledsoe has been an underrated talent ever since coming onto the college scene. He played on the star studded Kentucky Wildcats, headlined by John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, and two other first round picks in Patrick Patterson and Daniel Orton. But being one of five first round picks from the same school as well as Wall's tremendous hype did anything but help him prove he was a top tier talent. After making the All-Rookie Second Team, the Chris Paul trade forced a decrease in minutes throughout his second year. Now averaging over 8 points per game in 18 minutes per game, Bledsoe has been making the most of his limited playing time. He has improved from an average three point shooter to a consistent one that can knock them down in crunch time. He also has averaged less turnovers and fouls, even compared to his lower minutes. The Clippers know what they have in Bledsoe because they were unwilling to trade him in the Paul deal so it's unlikely we'll see them let him go. But if Paul does leave town this summer, don't expect the Clippers to drop too far down in the point guard position with Bledsoe on deck.
