Disney Looks Desperate With 'Planes'

I just saw a commercial for Disney's 'Planes.' My initial reaction: Why are you so desperate, Disney?

Johnny Depp's film 'The Lone Ranger' is the conglomerate's latest attempt for a long lasting, cash cow franchise. Recently released, the reviews were mostly negative. 'Pirates of the Caribbean' was Disney's last lucrative franchise, which happened to star none other than Johnny Depp. Coincidence?

Of course not. This is Disney recycling their superstar, not exactly screaming creativity.

Which brings me to 'Planes.'

Recycling again, except this time a concept, 'Cars', another one of their successful franchises. Disney, you're doing fine, why do you think you have to to produce and release your own stuff? Pushing out these high budget, bombing films ('John Carter' comes to mind.)

The plan on releasing a new Star Wars picture every year, they'll be fine. They have Marvel. They have Pixar!

So why, Disney?
