1. Kobe Bryant - I probably just lost all credibility by most after putting his name here. He is by far the highest paid man in the league at about 27.9 mil but considering how much money makes the Lakers and the NBA as a whole, doesn't even compare. Lakers owner Jerry Buss once said he should be paying Kobe 50 mil a year based off the money he's profiting from Kobe. And yes, after writing this, I should have to write LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, and others, and that's true because they are in the same position. But the rest will be the biggest bang for your buck.
1a. Kyle Lowry - I couldn't believe it when I read that this guy makes under 6 mil a year. He's one of those should-be all stars but isn't because he's not a name-brand player. This guy can absolutely ball, has he proved on the Rockets. Though you may not see him on the all-star team anytime soon, expect to hear his name in April as he leads the Raptors into the playoffs.
2. Luis Scola - This one shouldn't count either. After being amnestied by the Rockets, I believe the Suns are only paying him under 4 mil a year. For how consistent and durable Scola is, this would be the best contract in the NBA by far. But he was amnestied, and his normal contract was for about 9-10 mil a year, which would still put him on this list. That's why I'm putting his name here, though I wouldn't count amnestied players. Chauncey Billups is playing for dirt cheap on the Clippers, Rashard Lewis went from max contract to veteran's minimum, as did Elton Brand. So we won't count these guys either.
3. Ray Allen - Nothing made me happier than seeing Ray Allen walk away from the Celtics to join their arch-rivals. I think that Rondo was the main reason he left, as I've read that Rondo is often surly and hard to get along with (also I just hate KG). He's getting 3 mil a year to make every single wide open three he takes (and they will all be wide open thanks to James) and really will make most of them and help Miami defend their championship.
5. O.J. Mayo - I was just as shocked as Mayo seemed to be that he got no huge payday offers after recently reaching free agency. Luckily, Mark Cuban helped him out, but he's still only making about 4.2 mil per year. Based off his production, especially this season, he should be making much more. Another good investment by Cuban; you start to notice that most of the best contracts are under certain GMs (Miami, Denver, Houston, OKC, San Antonio)
What are some other good NBA contracts?
Rajon Rondo
